A Catskills Destination

Passed down through five generations, the land has been stewarded by the same family since 1926.

The Guesthouse

Throughout the mid-20th century, The Horseshoe Lake property provided the perfect setting for a vibrant summer retreat that delighted guests of all ages.

In 1932, the original Hotel opened boasting 30 rooms plus additional cabins for housing guests and staff. The Hotel operated during the summer season for ten years, then reopened again in 1946 following the end of World War II.

Lake Conservation

The lake has been protected by a ban on gas-powered boats. Only rowboats, canoes, kayaks, and boats with small electric motors are allowed.

Boats used to access other bodies of water are not permitted on the lake so as to protect the lake from harmful and invasive species that can disrupt its ecological integrity.

Land Development

Guests of the hotel enjoyed the resort and surroundings so much that it prompted the family to explore the possibility of creating a small vacation home development. Several guests bought property in the early 1960s and spread the word.

The buyers built vacation homes and often came up throughout the year for hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating, and ice fishing.

When designing the subdivision, the family was careful to retain ownership of a 50-foot strip around the lake in order to ensure the pristine condition of the lake. Additionally, the development was limited to one side of the lake to preserve its beauty and health.

Today, there are 12 homes in the development.
